The hijinks of some of these elected officials are pretty depressing.

No, they make me feel much more optimistic.

What? Smoking drugs in office? Knocking old ladies over on the City Council floor? Nude texting? How can that make you feel optimistic?

Because it means there's nothing keeping me from a career in politics.
